After lunch at Wok on Wheels we got some cheese curds and flavored milk from Gossner's and headed into the mountains. We recently got new mud terrain tires for Zack's truck and he was itching to test them out. He talked me into driving the truck to Cache Valley and going off-roading. Millville Canyon was still closed for the winter so we headed up Providence.

We were really having a lot of fun. Zack attached the GoPro to the dashboard and took some video. It took us a few tries to get up the final hill but we did it. Here is a video of our last try. (Berkley loved it. Peyton not so much. Remember how she hates being thrown in the air? Yeah. Her seat was pretty bouncy.)

Things went downhill from there. (Figuratively. Not literally.) Before driving down the trail Zack decided to drive off in a little side area not realizing just how deep the snow was. We were joyriding along and quickly sunk.
Zack tried to wiggle out but the tires were just spinning. While he was analyzing the situation, Berkley decided she needed to go potty. So I took her out in the snow, got her into a good squat so she wouldn't get her pants, and gave her the go ahead. Her pee shot strait forward all over her pants. Naturally I hadn't packed extras so I took off my jacket and we put her legs in the sleeves.
There was no way we were getting the truck out without some digging. We had no shovel and Zack had recently taken his gloves out of the truck so he started digging with our ice scraper. Which broke. Luckily we had spotty cell phone service and were able to contact Drew for help.
Eventually we flagged down some snowmobilers who were more than willing to help but also didn't have shovels. They tried rocking the truck, they went down to the bottom to see if anyone else had shovels, etc. By that time a storm had rolled in and it was snowing. Peyton had pooped a couple of times and Berkley needed to pee again. Zack and I had both gone through the scenario of needing to stay over night up there. Though not ideal, we had a full tank of gas and enough snacks that I think we would've been ok.
Drew showed up with shovels to save the day. He, Zack, and the snowmobilers dug like there was no tomorrow while I entertained the children in the truck. After making a hole the size of a small crater we finally got out! We had been stuck for about 3 hours.
It could have been a lot worse but thanks to Drew and the snowmobile guys it turned out just fine. (The guys wouldn't let us thank them in any way and wouldn't even give us their information. Talk about doing a good deed!) We got home safe and sound and only one of us was pantsless so I think it was a success.
