Labor Day Weekend

My family spends Labor Day weekend up at Bear Lake every year as kind of an end-of-summer hurrah.  We went up with them and had so much fun.

Parker and Rylee joined us for a day.  We played badminton and went out on my parents' new boat.  Parker rocked the wakeboard even with the impending rain/lightning storm.

We got caught in the storm and had to head in.  The men were planning on golfing that afternoon and got rained out.  Not uncommon for Labor Day weekend.

We went to church, watched movies, played horse, and just hung out.  

Peyton fell asleep on my Dad which is a small miracle.  He must have the magic touch.

The weather on Monday was perfect.  We got some pool time in.  Berkley was even brave enough to go down the slide a few times.

We went boating for (probably) the last time.  All of us wanted to go so we took Peyton (we normally don't take babies on the boat.)

 

Peyton pretty much slept through the whole thing.  Apparently the boat puts all children to sleep...

 

And adults too...

 We tried surfing behind the boat for the first time.  Something we couldn't do behind our old boat.  Even my Dad did it.  He's pretty hard core.  We're not good enough to throw in the rope yet.  Maybe next summer. 

Although the actual surfing was fun, my favorite part was the falling pictures.  We got some good ones.  

Berkley loved cheering everybody on.  Her favorite part of boating is the snacks.

And, of course, we stopped by Bear Lake Pizza and LaBeau's on our way out.

5 Months

Peyton turned 5 months old at the end of August.

She's rolling all over the place, smiling all the time, laughing occasionally, playing with toys, and putting everything in her mouth.
 
 
Now that she can roll she can usually be found sleeping on her tummy.   She falls asleep on her own in her crib (something I've trained both my girls to do) so she won't fall asleep while being held.  Ever.  Surprisingly there were a couple times this month that she fell asleep while I was feeding her.  Even though I had a million other things to do I just sat there in the rocking chair and held my sleeping baby because I knew there wouldn't be many other opportunities to just snuggle with her. 

She went swimming for the first time this month.

And hated every second.

Her eyes are getting bluer and her hair keeps getting lighter.  (It's kind of dark in the back, and looks a little reddish in the sunlight so who knows what will happen.)  She wore her first pair of jeans, is finally fitting into her little size 1 shoes, and plays in the exersaucer like a big girl.

And she's finally starting to enjoy her big sister.

Rice Cereal

We gave Peyton her first "solid food" on Zack's birthday.  For quite some time she had been staring us down while we ate and seemed to be really interested in food.  I made it pretty runny and she did really well.

She just loves it now.  She yells, "MMMmmmm!" and flails her arms.  Here's a video Zack took just a few days after we started feeding it to her.
