The 4th of July

We hosted our 3rd annual 4th of July bbq this year and it was our biggest one yet!  Even though our yard isn't exactly ideal for this sort of thing, we managed to find shade for everyone and the quality of the food made up for the lack of space.

Zack not only smoked his signature baby back ribs but also did chicken wings and turkey breasts.

The real highlight, though, was the jalapeno alligator sausage.  It looks a little gross but it was delicious.

And to top it off, our guests brought amazing cake and cobbler for dessert.


We loved spending the day with our family and friends.

I wanted a picture of the girls in their matching shirts but Berkley would not smile so I have a bunch of pictures like this.

I finally bribed her with ice cream and she gave me this smug, closed-mouth smile.



My grandparents gave us this amazing water jug that has been sitting in its original box, brand new, in their basement for who knows how long.  We were pretty excited about it.

We lit some fireworks with friends and Berkley got to hold her first sparkler.

This guy gets so giddy.  Did I mention it's his favorite holiday?


We ended the night by watching the Clearfield fireworks (which are supposed to be some of the best.)  Peyton may or may not have enjoyed being carried around by her twin.

15 Months

Peyton turned 15 months old on June 27th.  I feel like there are a lot of changes between 12 and 15 months.  Peyton is learning new things every day and it's such a joy to watch.  She is now 30.4 inches tall (48%) and weighs 20.1 lbs (12%).  Here's a little bit about what she's been up to.

This girl loves to eat!  She knows if we are eating (or drinking) something different than what she has and she will beg for it!  She is only using sippy cups (no bottles.)  Some of her favorites are beans, bread, any fruit, crackers, and chips.


We took the binky away and she does really well going to sleep on her own.  The only problem is in the car.  She doesn't fall asleep in the car without a binky so we can't count on her to sleep during long drives.


This girl is a little bit fearless.  She's a walking pro, tries to run and jump, wants to walk down the stairs like an adult, climbs on anything and everything, etc.  Here are her jump attempts at 13 months old.

She talks a lot and will copy any word you ask her to say.  Here she is saying and signing 'apple' at almost 14 months.

She loves stuffed animals.

She's still taking two naps a day but some days only needs one.

I'm still her favorite.  

She gives the sweetest hugs while patting your back.

Loves bath time.

 She loves when Daddy comes home and is always the first to greet him.

She folds her arms when we pray.  

She now has 12 teeth.  This is what she looked like the entire time her 4 molars were coming in.


Sometimes we call her "poopy Peyt" because she poops 4 times a day on average. 

She started nursery with a little anxiety but they take good care of her in there.
