Election Time

So I know I'm terrible at keeping this blog up to date. Someday I'll sit down and blog everything that has happened (which is a lot!) but not today. I've been really researching to decide for myself who to vote for because I don't want to rely on the opinions of others. I don't want to just vote for somebody because my parents are or because I'm LDS. I was sent this video and I thought it was very informative and that I should share it. Check it out, it might make a difference in the way you vote next month.

Fourth of July Weekend!

We've just been having so much fun this summer that I haven't really had time to blog it, so here is the beginning of catching up on all of our summer adventures.

On the weekend of the fourth, the Banbury's invited us to go up to Trey's grandparent's house in Star Valley, Wyoming and really, who could say no to that? We headed out Thursday evening after stopping at KFC for some dinner. It doesn't get any more American than a bucket of fried chicken right? We arrived at the house of Grandpa Bill and Grandma Bobbie later that night. Their house was full of little treasures and trinkets. It was like a mini museum! Zack's favorite part was Grandpa Bill's gun collection, of course! We really liked staying with them! They were way entertaining, that's for sure!
We decided to start off the fourth with a hike. We hiked to the intermittent spring that supplies the whole valley with water. Here we are at the bottom of the spring.
Trey and Michelle showing us the physics of the spring. Unfortunately, it didn't stop flowing while we were there but it was still cool.
This is where the water actually comes out of the rock. It seemed like a small opening for such a big waterfall!
Boys will be boys.

He's funny.
The water was freezing!
The whole crew.
No wonder the water was freezing. There is still snow! The weather was actually perfect up there! It was way nice to get out of our 100 degree weather for a few days!
That evening we went to the rodeo of course. What else would we do in Afton, Wyoming?
I loved the little kids chasing the tiny calfs (or is it calves? I don't know when referring to baby cows..) The teenagers got big calfs though which was even better because a few of the kids got rocked hard! Those cows were pissed! Quality entertainment for sure.
Fireworks followed the rodeo...

Then we had some fireworks of our own. One of the main reasons we went to Wyoming was for the big fireworks that are illegal in Utah. I can't even explain how much fun it was! Here's Zack lighting our 140-shot roman candle. We took some video but I'm too lazy to upload it..
Saturday was a fishing day.

In the middle of nowhere..
Michelle caught this fish on her very first cast! It was her first fish ever and it was amazing! It turned out to be a mountain whitefish and we ate it for dinner.
The rest of us didn't have much luck. Here's Trey's minnow of a fish. Zack caught a small one too and threw it back.
And all I caught was this moldy piece of poo.
On our way out we had to take some pics by the world's largest elkhorn arch! It's way bigger than the one's in Jackson Hole.
And here we all are, sad the trip has ended..

The Blender Story

Although I have a lot to do today, I thought I'd share this funny little story...
Sometimes I tend to be a little ditsy. When Zack comes home and I say "Guess what happened today," he always knows he's in for a treat. Well, I thought this one was worth sharing. One morning in the beginning of May, Zack had gone to work and I decided to make myself a protein shake for breakfast. (My mom always made them for breakfast when I lived at home so I actually really like them.) I got out the blender. When I got out the glass jar part, the bottom blade part was already screwed on so I didn't think anything of it. I put the chocolate protein powder, some milk, yogurt, peanut butter, ice, and maybe banana into the blender. When I turned it on, I found that the blade part must not have been screwed on very well because everything started flowing out all over the blender and even inside the electric part and out the bottom! I, of course, turned it off. I screwed on the bottom tightly and I wanted to save what was left so I turned the blender back on. (Probably not the best idea since it was full of chocolatey goop!) After a few seconds it stopped working. I was hungry so I just drank the shake that I had. It was good. After all this, I had a big mess to clean up! I wasn't sure how to clean out a blender full of chocolate because I know that you should not rinse electronic appliances with water but really, what choice did I have? The blender didn't work now anyway so it's not like I can ruin it more. So I proceeded to run water through it until it was clear and washed off the outside as well. After it was cleaned out I did not try to turn it on because it was all wet inside so I set it on the counter on top of a towel to dry. I left it there for a very long time because, even though it was probably dry, I was just too chicken to turn it on. Finally a few weeks ago (at least two months after the incident) Zack decided to make a smoothie. Lo and behold, the blender worked good as new! Hallelujah! I was so happy that I un-ruined the blender and nobody was electrocuted!

Sorry I don't have pictures to accompany this story but I was somewhat in a state of panic and taking a picture was my last thought.

My Skilled Husband

I think I have the right to brag about my husband every once in awhile so here it goes...
For those of you who don't know, Zack has decided to go into the cabinet industry for his career. He currently works at a small cabinet shop in Willard called Timberwest Inc. It's a fairly new business and it's just Zack and the owner ,Brad, right now. This basically means that Brad does most of the bidding, drawing, and paperwork (he has been training Zack in these areas though), and Zack does almost all of the actual building. He loves this line of work and he is very good at it because he's creative and also a perfectionist. He won't sell something if it's not good quality. Ok, enough blabbering, I'll just show you how beautiful some of his cabinets are:

These ones are of a kitchen he built for a house out in Tremonton I believe. I like this kitchen a lot!

These ones are in a basement in North Ogden I think. The first one is a little kitchenette type thing and the second is an entertainment center. I think that wood is beautiful!

The last two are projects he made for me/us. The first is of a desk he built for our apartment, and the second is a "ladder bookshelf" that he made for me for Valentine's Day (and you can catch a little glimpse of one of the wall cubes he made for my birthday last year).

I thought we had more kitchen pictures on our computer but evidently we don't so this is just a glimpse but I think he's very talented and I'm glad he found something that he enjoys and that he is good at. He would probably be embarrassed if he knew I was writing this! Anyway, he's working on his business degree so that, one day, he will be able to run his own cabinet shop. I am very proud of him and if you know anyone in the northern Utah area who needs cabinet work done, let us know!

The Sunshine State!

Sorry this is such a long post, it was an eventful vacation. So we'll start with the beach. We had to take a couple beach days. These pictures were at clearwater beach on the west side. We also spent some time at coco beach on the east side.
Sisters
Dad stole someone's umbrella and chair.
Of course we went to Disneyworld which is way bigger than Disneyland. This is the big ball at Epcot. There weren't many cool rides there but there were interesting things to see.
Everyone at the Magic Kingdom which had the usual rides including splash mountain, space mountain, thunder mountain railroad, etc.
A view of the princess castle while waiting for the train.
Grandma and Grandpa Toolson. They did a lot of this. They decided they would try every ride once except the wet rides but if we went more than once, they sat and waited for us. I don't know many people in their 70's who would go on crazy rollercoasters so they're pretty hardcore.
Animal Kingdom! I liked the Animal Kingdom a lot! It's one of the things California doesn't have.
The tree of life. It's made up of all different animals.
On the safari.
I didn't want to bore you with all of the animal pictures but these were my favorite.
The whole crew waiting for A Bug's Life 3D underneath the tree of life. I think that's a big ball of dung we're in front of..
Enough with Disneyworld, we also went to Universal Studios. It was also bigger than the one in California and lots of fun!
By the globe.
The brand new simpsons ride.
Everyone has to have the classic Jaws picture.
Mom and Dad
The ride that soaked us all!
And scared the pee out of my Dad! He thought we wouldn't notice since he was wet...
This is me making Zack jealous. Look at his face!
Islands of Adventure was our favorite park at Universal!
It had the hulk coaster.
And the sweet spider-man ride! (We bought spider-man binkies for our future children.)
And Jurassic Park! It also had these coasters called the dueling dragons where your feet hang and the two coasters come within 6 inches of eachother!

All in all we had a lot of fun in the sun!
