3 Months

This little lady turned 3 months old on June 27th.

This month has been fun because she is really smiley and has started baby talking to us.  She loves watching her crib mobile.  She's starting to adjust to her older sister.  She rarely takes her hands out of her mouth.  She's still spotty about sleeping through the night.  She has become a fussy eater.  Crying and flailing every time she has to burp.  It makes it difficult to feed her in public (and stay covered.)  People comment on her hair everywhere we go. 

Berkley set up a little lunch date for the two of them.

I put her in the bumbo just before she turned 3 months.  She liked it for a little while.

Yep, we still adore her.

Berkley Funnies

I really should do these posts more often because Berkley makes me laugh every single day.  This list is a long one but a good one. 

• Berkley has gone through a big Dora the Explorer phase.  Zack went to check on her after she had gone to bed.  She rolled over in her sleep and said, "swiper no swiping."
• When we were at the hospital to have Peyton, Berkley was with her Grandparents.  She explained to them that, "Mommy and Daddy are getting married because they love each other."  That was why we were gone. 
• My parents were putting her in the car after going for a walk.  She wanted to sit in the normal seat instead of her car seat.  My Dad told her that she needed to sit in her car seat because it's the law.  She grabbed the seat belt and yelled, "No, THIS is the law!"  How did she know?
• Berkley was sitting next to me while I was feeding Peyton.  I was trying to get Peyton to latch on by telling her to open her mouth big.  I looked over and Berkley had her mouth open as wide as she could.
• I try to motivate her to hurry by initiating a race.  I'll run and say, "I'm going to beat you."  Now she'll chase me and say, "I'm going to beep you!"  And when she catches up she pokes me and says beep.  
• She's learning how to cut with scissors.  She picked up a piece of paper and asked for the scissors so she could "sizz it."  
• She has a book that plays the alphabet in different musical genres.  (Jazz, hip hop,etc.)  When it says techno she repeats "heck no."  
• We were driving in the car one day and she said, "When I grow bigger I can grow wings on my hands and then I can fly!"
• Instead of saying adios she says potty-ose.
• She tries to help me burp Peyton.  Instead of asking to pat her, she asks if she can pap her.  Every time.  
• Drew asked her what little girls are made of.  She stood there and thought really hard, then finally yelled, "muddy buddies!"  
• Zack was on his computer and Berkley was at a desk around the corner.  He asked what she was doing and she replied, "I'm doing some serious homework over here."
• She pretended to make me a cake for my birthday.  I asked what kind it was.  She said, "It's..... brown sugar!....... and.......... mushrooms!"
• We were at the dinner table and she turned to me and said, "Mommy, you forgot your coupon for Wednesday at 7:30."
• One day she told me, "Mom, I'm taking Peyton a bath with my licking!" and started licking Peyton's feet.  
• We were getting dinner ready and Zack mentioned the superintendent at his new job.  Berkley overheard and yelled, "Daddy!  Don't superintend our food!"
• We can hear the trumpets from a nearby air force base sometimes if the house is quiet.  I told her what the sound was and she said, "Who's playing the trumpet?  Is it Moroni?"  I laughed and told her maybe.  A couple days later we heard them again and she got excited and said, "I hear Moroni playing the trumpet!"
• She takes the little glide floss container and rubs it in her armpit like it's her own little deodorant.  
• Sometimes she calls me little mommy.  Like, "Come back here little mommy."
• If she is bare foot she says she has toes on.  Like, "I don't have any shoes so I can just go outside with my toes on."
• Berkley was outside while Zack was doing yard work.  She picked up a dandelion and said, "I'm going to stick this in my nostrils."  Zack later caught her sticking grass up Peyton's nose too.  
• She'll stand on any sort of pedestal available (rock, bucket, etc.)  and yell, "Ladies and gentlemen, introducing __________!"  (Insert whatever she's looking at at the moment.)

And just for good measure, here she is dancing to the 'heck no' alphabet.

Blessing

On June 3rd Zack was able to give Peyton a blessing.  It was a beautiful, simple blessing.  The parts that stuck out to me were that she would always know that her family loves her and that her Heavenly Father loves her and that she can always turn to Him no matter what she's going through.

I was just going to have her use the same dress Berkley was blessed in (the one that I was also blessed in), but my Mom thought it would be nice to be able to give each girl her own dress so she offered to buy this adorable dress for her.

Afterward, our family came to our house for pulled pork.  Zack loves any excuse to bbq.  Of course we took a bazillion pictures with family.

We were lucky enough to have all of our grandparents come (Peyton's great grandparents.)



All of our parents and siblings were there too (we didn't get a picture of Mitch and Amy.)  Plus a couple of my cousins.  Lots of people love this little lady.





It happened to be my Mom's birthday that day. We love these generational pictures.

I also got called to be the primary president in our ward that day.  Kind of surprised our family. 

 

 

 

And, naturally, I took way too many pictures of Peyton in her blessing attire.  Why?  Because I'm a mom and I think she's super adorable.
 

Meatless May

After seeing our most recent family pictures, Zack decided it was time to lose some weight.  Between school and work he really doesn't have time for an exercise routine so he changed his diet for a month just to see what happened.  Among other things (like drinking less pop and what not), he cut out all meat.  This is just crazy for my burger-loving bbq man but he did it.  He lost almost 7 pounds just by changing his diet.  Not bad at all.  He says that his Five Guys burger on June 1st was the best meal of his life though...

 

2 Months

Peyton turned 2 months old on May 27th.

At her Dr. visit she weighed in at 11 lbs (65%)  and was  a little over 23in long (almost 90%!  Where did that height come from?)  The Dr. kept commenting on how fast she is growing.  They like babies to double their birth weight by 4 months and Peyton has almost done it at 2 months!

A couple days before she turned 6 weeks old she slept for 7 hours straight.  Now she generally sleeps about 7 hours a night, bless her heart.  (Usually from 10:30 or 11pm to about 5:30am.  Then she'll eat and go back to sleep till about 7:30.

On Sunday, May 6th she looked right into my eyes and gave me a huge grin.  I love that I got her first smile. Unfortunately, her smiles have been quite elusive to the camera.
 

She's the only baby I know that seems to enjoy tummy time.
 
Her hair is out of control.  It wouldn't lay flat if I tried.

She has the cutest spiral belly button I've ever seen.

Berkley now refers to her as "baby Peyt."

Berkley found these boots in a box of clothes and had to put them on baby Peyt.

We just can't get enough of her.
