Easter 2011
Easter was so fun this year with Berkley! We'll start with a video of her finding her Easter basket.
She loved the eggs and she loves Ollie, her scentsy elephant. (Zack bought Ollie for her with a coconut lemongrass scent. The scentsy animals are too cute!)

After Berkley was all dressed and ready for church we did an egg hunt in our yard. We "hid" the eggs in plain sight just like her Easter basket. Otherwise she wouldn't know to look for them. It went pretty well and Berkley had fun. Don't mind our dandelion field of a lawn... we're working on it.

Some Vids
I thought I'd take a minute and post all of the random videos we've taken of Berkley in the past few months. Some are of her tricks and others are just her being silly. Unfortunately she gets distracted by the camera so she doesn't show off quite as much but oh well. Feel free to watch any or all.
In this first one she's 11 1/2 months old and she hits herself in the face in attempt to blow kisses. The first 8 seconds are the only important part.
When she started saying the word 'bath' it was my favorite because she stuck her tongue out for the entire word. This is my attempt at catching it. If only she could sit still... This is at 12 1/2 months old.
Also taken at 12 1/2 months, this is her gagging when we say the word 'gross.'
Another one at 12 1/2 months. A little distracted in this one.
Reading a book at 13 months.
There's a good cheeser at the end of this one. Also 13 months old.
At 14 months she started doing this dance whenever we mentioned shoes. I don't know how to turn the video, sorry.

15 Months
Berkley turned 15 months old on April 21st. Here's a taste of what has been going on with her the past few months.
Walking!
When she turned a year old she was too scared to walk. She pushed her walker around with ease. She would walk forward, backward, one-handed, etc. But if you made her let go she would sit right down.
She took her first steps on March 4th at just over 13 months old. They weren't even toward me or Zack, she walked to our friend Brett. We were all a bit surprised. She didn't walk again until March 7th when she started doing 3 or 4 steps at a time repeatedly. By March 12th (13 1/2 months old) she was fully walking. Now she's wreaking havoc on a whole new level.
Talking. She's always been vocal but now it's like she learns new words every day. I can't even write them all down but I'll make note of some of the main ones.
-She finally says "mom!" and it's the cutest thing ever.
-She says "Hi!" to EVERYONE. People at the grocery store/post office/wherever else we go just love her. She even said hi to a homeless man as he walked past us while we were out in the yard.
-I thought she had learned a swear word for a minute because she said it all day long. One day I finally realized she was saying "sit" while she sat on things. She says it when she sits on the stair, my lap, her toys, her books, etc.
-Her new favorite lately is "poop." It's especially funny when she says it after Zack farts.
-She says "no no" WHILE she's getting into the things she's not supposed to. At least it gives me a heads up.
This one was a "sit" moment. She likes to take all of her toys out of their cubby hole and "sit" in it.
Teeth. She has 12 teeth. 4 of them are molars. This is the face she makes when we tell her to smile.
No more binkys or bottles! Here are my thoughts on our experience.
Binky- Way easier than I thought it would be. We have only been using the binky at bed/naptime since she was about 5 months old but she is a stubborn girl and I was so worried she wouldn't be able to fall asleep without it. I prepared myself for hours of screaming. To my relief, she whined for a while, jabbered for a while and fell asleep. There were a couple nights that it took about an hour but that's the longest and now she falls asleep without it no problem, at naptime and bedtime.
Bottle- Harder than I expected. She knew how to drink from a sippy cup. In fact, she would drink water or juice from them like a pro. So I figured I could just put her milk in a sippy cup instead of a bottle and it would be done. No such luck. She tried it and hated it. Every time we gave it to her she would just get a sour face and refuse. We came to the realization that she didn't like the taste of milk. She wasn't really tasting it from the bottle because it would just squirt past her taste buds.
So I ended up measuring out the amount she needed each day. We would put it in her eggs, oatmeal, with cereal, and offer it in her sippy cup throughout the day. By the end of the day I would give her a bottle with the amount of milk that was left over. It took a few weeks but she finally started drinking the milk out of her sippy cup and no longer needed her bottle at night. Now she drinks milk like crazy, it just took her a while to get used to it.
Speaking of eating habits, she's a really good eater. She'll pretty much try anything I offer her. If she won't eat it, all I need to do is let her hold her own fork and she'll gobble it up. (Everything tastes better when you use a utensil!) She also loves to dip things. Some of her favorites right now are scrambled eggs, oranges, bananas, grapes, bottled peaches and pears, juice, when we give her a taste of candy or dessert, and when dad gives her chips. The only thing she has refused every time so far is bell peppers.
She still loves books. She used to follow me around like this and thrust books at me till I read to her. Now she's a little more squirmy and doesn't like to sit and read quite as much as she used to.
She loves lotion. She'll get it off my nightstand and come find me saying "shishoo" until I give her some.
She gives lots of kisses. Slobbery ones. Mostly to her stuffed animals, sometimes to people, and other times to random objects like the floor and walls. In fact, she had her first kiss with a boy the day after she turned 15 months old. His name is Micah and he's 3 months older than her. They kissed several times without being provoked.
She likes to watch NBA highlights and music videos at the computer with her Dad.
She still takes two naps a day and sleeps 11-12 hours a night. She's close to going down to one nap a day though. There are some days that she's definitely ready but other days when she really needs the two. It'll happen soon though :(
She loves music. She'll do the motions to songs like The Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Little House in the Middle of the Woods. She even attempts to sing the ABC's but it sounds more like the E-O-E's with a few other letters thrown in.
She folds her arms when we pray. In fact, she has even reminded me to pray as I sit down to eat my lunch and she folds her arms. It's very sweet.

She NEVER sleeps on us. She wouldn't even snuggle like this when she was a newborn. So when I got her out of the car after grocery shopping and she snuggled up on me and kept sleeping, I had to document it. I just wish I could've sat in the rocking chair and rocked for a while but the groceries weren't going to unload themselves...
We love her pigtails but we especially love her hair after we take the pigtails out. This was her first bubble bath. The bubbles totally freaked her out at first but she has learned to love them!
We started our vegetable garden inside and leave the little sprouts on the windowsill. While I was looking over the recipe for dinner (I hadn't even started cooking yet) I heard "MMMmmmm!" coming from the front room. I went in to find this.
There was dirt on the floor but, thankfully, no plants were harmed.
She still loves hats. Anything on your head is a "hat" whether it be a headband, hairclip, shirt, etc.
We tried out 'big girl pig tails.' I think they're way cute but they don't survive car rides very well.
She always has to be involved with whatever we're doing. She's always trying to 'help' unload the dishwasher, weed the garden, make dinner, fold laundry, etc. This was when she was 'helping' us put our big pile of dirt into our square-foot gardens.
She loves jewelry. She'll put anything on as a necklace or bracelet. She has gotten this scarf out of my drawer and put it on on several occasions.
We're excited for capris and sandals! (Even though she's a little short and capris look like floods.)
She's such a fun little girl and she makes me laugh several times a day. Love her.

Picnic at the Park
A couple of days after my training ended I was working my way through a never-ending to-do list. The weather was SO nice and days like this have been few and far between this spring so I decided to forget the list, pack a picnic lunch, and take Berkley to the park. We went to Trainwatch Park in hopes of seeing a train or two and we did!
Once we got there, Berkley was much more interested in exploring than she was in eating but I managed to get a little food in her tummy.
We were excited to break out the capris and sandals! I took way too many pictures swinging.
We had a lot of fun and I'm so glad I took advantage of the weather instead of being boring and responsible. I think Berkley appreciated it too.
