San Diego

We spent a weekend in July in San Diego with the Morbys.  Zack's cousin Kade was getting married there so it was a good opportunity to take a family vacation.  There are several good photographers in the family and we all shared pictures so get ready for a picture overload.

We took an early flight down.  The girls did great on the plane. 

We basically went straight from the airport to the zoo. 

Drew's zoom lense provided some good animal photos. 

It was hotter than we expected.  We were looking forward to temperatures in the high 70's but with the humidity it felt just as hot as Utah! 

By the afternoon we pretty much all felt like this. 

This sign is my favorite part of the zoo. 

We had to reenact this picture with Peyton.  We took the same one about a year and a half ago.  (You can see that here.)

The next day was actually my birthday.  I was also exactly 12 weeks pregnant.  I just wanted a relaxing beach day.  We spent the morning checking out tide pools. 

We didn't find much.  (Nothing compared to the Oregon coast.)  The coolest part were these rock formations. 

We spent the afternoon at a beach near where we were staying in Carlsbad.  It was the perfect beach day!  The only thing that would've made it better is if the waves were a little calmer.  The girls couldn't really get in the water.  They were content playing in the sand though.  (This is actually the first time they've been to the ocean when it was warm enough to swim.)

Parker made this necklace for Berkley out of seaweed.  She vowed to never take it off. 

I tried taking Berkley into the water and we got taken out by a giant wave.  In fact, at least two of us (maybe 3?) lost sunglasses to the ocean that day. 

I got to meet my long-lost roommate Leslee for dinner.  It was so fun to see her and catch up. 

The next day was the wedding.  I was terrible and didn't take any pictures which is crazy because it's my favorite temple.  Berkley was really excited to be twinners with Amy. 

After the wedding and luncheon we went to a Padres game.  They were handing out some sweet camo shirts for free. 

The stadium is really cool. 

And the girls learned this song.  

 On Sunday we went to the Oceanside Pier to watch the sunset. 

It was nice but I think Utah sunsets are better.  Honestly. 

Berkley wanted a turn with the camera. 

And then she wanted to be in front of the lense. 

On our last day we stopped to see the sea lions at La Jolla on our way out. 

It was such a nice weekend getaway.  Thanks to Kade and Krista for giving us a reason to go!
