The first bite

What is this stuff?

4 Months

That's right, our tiny baby is already 4 months old.

This is the best smile I could get out of her.

She loved the doctor's office!  Well she loved laying on the crinkly paper anyway.  She wouldn't stop kicking, smiling, and wiggling.  The paper ended up all ripped... oh well it was cute. She did really well with her shots this time.  She stopped screaming as soon as I picked her up and then fell asleep on the way home.  She got cranky that evening but it wasn't anything some baby tylenol and a little TLC couldn't take care of.  Here are her stats:
Weight: 13lbs 7oz- 50th percentile
Length: 24 1/4in- 50th percentile
Head: 16in- 25th percentile
So she's growing and healthy!  She has changed SO much this month and it's been so fun.  Here are some new things she's been doing:
-She can get her thumb now.  Not all the time, but sometimes.

-She is quite the talker and loves to have conversations, especially with her dad!
-Her first real laugh was on May 15th.  Cutest. Sound. Ever.  She only laughs occasionally but it makes our day!
-The first week of May she started discovering her hands.

-On May 13th she grabbed her first toy on purpose.  Now she'll grab anything and it goes straight to her mouth.

-She has one really long hair.  Like twice as long as the others.
-Sleeping through the night.  On average she's been sleeping from about 10:30-6:00.  She's been waking up in the middle of the night about once a week.  (Of course it's always the night that I need to be somewhere the next morning.)  It just keeps getting better though.

-She's been getting better and better at tummy time.  She's so close to rolling over it's ridiculous!

-She sticks her tongue out ALL the time.  At one point she was doing this weird tongue clicking thing. 

-She has a frown that's to die for.  (She always has but I finally got a picture of it.)  It just makes us laugh.

-This girl can scoot!  She'll arch her back and push with her legs and scoot backwards.  It's a lot more efficient on a hardwood or vinyl floor (on top of a blanket) but she'll even do it in her crib until her head is touching the side.  Now I know why we have crib bumpers.
-She's still a powerful pooper.  On average, I have to clean poop out of two outfits a day.  And it doesn't matter what brand of diapers I use, I've tried them all.  On the plus side, she no longer does it while her diaper is off and I'm getting really good at cleaning it up!
-She finally got to meet Aunt Rylee!  Rylee got home from Africa on April 29th (two weeks later than planned because of the volcano in Iceland.)  They love eachother.

She was getting fussy in her bumbo one morning so I decided to start some laundry and then put her down for a nap.  Once I was done with the laundry, it was mysteriously quiet.  I came out to find this:

A little bit crafty

Berkley went about two months without having binky clips.  I couldn't really find cute ones at the store and we didn't bring her many places for the first two months anyway so it wasn't that big of a deal.  Well my mom went out and bought this cute one at an overpriced baby store:

And she used it as a template to make these:

Then I used some of the leftover ribbon to make some matching bows:

And speaking of bows, I got the best idea ever from my sis-in-law Amy to make flowers out of zippers!

I love them.  Not just for Berkley but for me too!  I wear them in my hair, on my cardigans, and I'm going to get a couple headbands to hook them to also.  I'm going to make more, I've gone a little zipper crazy.

Some Fun Cupcakes!

One day about a month ago Zack came home and went straight to the kitchen.  I didn't ask questions.  I had somewhere to be that evening and I came home to these: 

Yep, homemade hostess cupcakes, filling and all, made from scratch, just because he felt like it.  They tasted much better than hostess too.  

Then last week for mutual, one of my girls was in charge and she taught us how to make these little babies:

And they are super easy!  You lightly frost the cupcake, then cut mini marshmallows in half diagonally to make the petals.  Dip the cut marshmallows into colored sugar (the sugar will only stick to the freshly cut part) and then arrange on top of the cupcake.

So fun for Spring!

Mother's Day Came Early This Year!

For my first real Mother's Day, Zack got us tickets to the Tulip Festival down at Thanksgiving Point.  Tulips are one of my all time favorites and I've never been so it was really thoughtful of him.  Plus he used a coupon!

Berkley did really well.  We kept her covered up in the stroller almost the whole time because it was so sunny and she rode in that stroller like a champ.  

It was such a nice day.  We even got sunburns on our pale winter skin.  Here are some flower pics.  We wrote down the names of the ones we love so we can plant them at our own house some day.  

I had never seen these cool upside-down ones before.  Probably my favorite.

 The grounds were beautiful too.  I had never even been down to Thanksgiving Point before.  They have several differently themed gardens and lots of gorgeous scenery.

This owl had two babies poking their heads out from underneath it.  Too bad we don't have a better zoom lens.

We ran into our friend Elder Perry.  Yep, L. Tom.  I would have been too nervous to bother him but he knows my grandparents so that made it ok right?  He's way tall!

Watching this kid take a dump in the stream.  Yeah, way gross but also hilarious.  Those poor koi fish.
