7 Months

That's right folks, she's 7 months old.

Some things she's been up to this month:
-Eating people food.  Besides all the baby foods, we give her pieces of all sorts of fruits, veggies, and crackers.  We also introduced her to those little puffs that look like cereal but dissolve faster.  Now she can grab them and put them in her mouth all by herself.  Here she is eating green beans and after two bites she looked like this.  It cracked me up.

-Drinking water.  We started giving her a sippy cup and it took her a while to figure out how to drink from it but she got the hang of it.

-The whining phase.  At least I hope it's just a phase.  She whines when she's bored, when she can't reach something, when I leave the room, when I come into the room and she wants me to pick her up, etc.  I really try not to give in because I don't want to spoil her but it just drives me nuts.
-She has always been a kicker.  When she's excited, tired, or even sleeping, she'll raise both feet into the air and then slam them down repeatedly.  She has done this forever.  The other day I went in to get her from her nap and she had kicked her pants all the way off!  Granted, they were too big for her but still.  Look at that mischievous face. 

-Dancing.  She totally dances to music/sounds.  It's way cute.  Here she is doing Aunt Misty's dance move.

-She's a jabber-mouth.   She has said hi, hey, lala, num num, mama, dada, etc. but she doesn't know what they mean.  Mostly she just says dada all day long.
-Wearing jean diapers.  My Mom got these diapers way cheap.  At first I just laughed and thought they were ridiculous but they've kind of grown on me.  They're nice on a hot day.

This is the biggest flower I have.  I decided to try it on her and just started laughing because it was so huge.  It's kinda cute though so I left it.

When did we get old?

Zack and I both have July birthdays.  I turned 23 and he turned 26.  We found ourselves thinking things like,
"When did I start getting excited about things like new throw pillows and newspaper subscriptions? (For the coupons of course.)"
"Since when are we older than NBA players?"
"When did staying up till 10:30 become a 'late' night?"
"When did I stop knowing all of the 'popular' songs on the radio?"

The scary thing is that we don't mind it one bit.  I like being old, boring, and responsible.  I like going to bed at 9:30 every night.  I like watching the news.  I just don't know when I got this way.

We did the usual stuff for our birthdays.  Spent time with family, went out to dinner, etc.  Zack made me this beautiful cake and I made him one of his favorite desserts, a special ice cream cake.  (We didn't take pictures of the one I made because it wasn't as pretty.)

6 Months

Berkley turned 6 months old on July 21st.  That was pretty much the fastest half-year of my life.  Here is the picture:

She measured in at 15lb 6oz, 26in long, and 16 3/4" head circumference.  Those are all right about 50%.
Some new things this month (besides swimming and hiking) are:
-Sitting up like a pro.  She gets mad now if I lay her down anywhere because she likes to be up looking around all the time.

(Her hair naturally sticks up like that, even if I try to get it to lay flat.)
-Her size 1 shoes finally fit well.  No more double-sided tape!
-Eating baby food.  She tried all of the veggies this month.  The first time she tried green beans she wouldn't swallow them.  She just kept gagging.  It was way funny.  Now she eats them just fine.  Her favorite veggie is probably sweet potatoes but she likes them all.  Here is her first bite of carrots.

-Rolling over!  She finally decided to roll over on July 2nd (just over 5 months old.)  She rolled back to belly and she has only done it a few times since then.  She hates to be on her tummy so now she'll roll most of the way and then go back to her back because she knows what happens when she goes all the way.
-Splashing in the bathtub.  Now that she can sit she realizes that the water is there.  If I pour a stream of water she'll try and grab it and then look in her hands wondering why they're empty.
-Her eyes are brown in the middle.  Until now they've been a dark greyish blue but the middles have turned brown so we might have a brown-eyed babe on our hands!
-She's developed a rash on both of her thumbs and her neck from all of the drool... Still no teeth though. (She doesn't really suck her thumbs, just sort of chews/gnaws on them.

Things she likes:
-Sounds.  She loves music, clapping, the blender, blow dryer, vacuum, etc.
-Her parents :)
-Playing peek-a-boo.
-Hair.  She likes to play with it, pull it, and try to eat it.
-Riding in the car.
-Eating and putting everything in her mouth.
-Looking at books.

She's just constantly learning and surprising us all the time.  One night Zack was playing with her and he said, "She just gets more and more awesome every day!"

One day after I put her down for a nap she was whining a ton and when I checked on her she looked like this.  I don't know how she managed it with her arms inside her blanket.

One day she got to be a cowgirl while her dad was being a cowboy.  (He helped a friend from work brand, castrate, and de-horn some cattle.)

She likes to watch people eat so Zack found the perfect spot for her to sit.  At first she didn't know what to think of it.
