Family Reunions

Summer is the time for family reunions.  The first one we went to was the Woodbury reunion the end of July.  My Dad and 4 of his 5 sisters (plus lots of my cousins) all came to Jordanelle for a boating/beach day.  People came from Idaho, Washington, New York, and Florida.  It was super windy so it wasn't ideal for boating or swimming but it was fun to spend the day together and catch up. 

My cousin had a little boy and named him Peyton just a couple months after I had my Peyton.  It was cute to watch the Peytons play.

The next day was the Heaton reunion at Cherry Hill.  This one includes my Dad's Mom's siblings and their families so it's a lot of people and I don't know many of them but I think my Dad likes to see his cousins.  The girls had so much fun at Cherry Hill, it was perfect for little kids!

The only pictures we took were on the big dragon waterslide.  After Berkley went with Zack she started screaming that she didn't want to go again because it was too scary. 

After Peyton and I went, she yelled, "That was fun!"

Our last reunion was the Schvaneveldt reunion (Lisa's parents and siblings) in August.  This year we did another camping trip at Bridger Lake in the Uintas. The weather was decent during the day but really cold at night (around 40 degrees.)  It was ok while we were bundled up in the tent but this pregnant lady really needed nighttime potty breaks and that wasn't happening. 

We spent the time fishing, off-roading, eating, and just hanging out. 

Speaking of potty breaks, this girl had only been potty trained for about a month so I ended up spending half my time taking her back and forth to the potty.  It was the kind that had a structure built around a hole in the ground.  The first time we went in she said, "Mmmm, it smells like watermelon in here!"

The girls loved playing with the other kids and being spoiled by "Aunt Winda."

And Zack really enjoyed hanging out with his cousins. 

The Schvaneveldt Reunion

For the Schvaneveldt reunion this year we camped for a couple nights in the Uintas at Bridger Lake.  Lisa did an excellent job orchestrating it all.  There were crafts for the kids, a fishing competition, a couple delicious potlucks, four wheeling, some excellent family songs, and lots of family fun. 

We hadn't taken children camping before and I was nervous but it turned out great.  Being able to split meals with family really helped so I didn't have to plan all the food.  Berkley played with her little cousins (Zack's cousins and his cousin's kids) the whole time so she required no entertainment.  Both of the girls slept well in the tent at night but it was a little difficult to get Peyton to nap in there during the day.  Peyton did fall into the firepit once.  There was no fire in it but she did get really ashy.  I got disoriented because my cell phone was turned off and I never knew what time it was.  But all in all we had a really good time with family.  I didn't take many pictures so I got some from family members and stole a few that other people posted on facebook. :)

I took some "before" shots of the girls because I figured they would be filthy by the end but they stayed surprisingly clean from the ankles up.
