It's Getting Closer!

So here's another pregnancy update and the latest pictures:

Things that have happened in the past month or so:

-I started feeling her hiccups. How do they hiccup with no air anyway?

-Zack can hear her heartbeat when it's really quiet and he presses his ear up to my belly.

-I have felt like a lab rat. I got my flu shot, h1n1 shot, rhogam shot (because I have a negative blood type and Zack's is positive), and took my blood glucose test. I'm glad to know that I'm vaccinated and healthy but also glad that I'm done with needles for a while, hopefully. I'm especially glad I don't have gestational diabetes! I don't know what I would do without my ice cream, pie on Thanksgiving, egg nog, and Grandma's homemade chocolates at Christmas time!

-I started wearing maternity jeans. My normal ones still fit because they button below my belly but maternity pants are actually comfortable so I might as well wear them while I fill them out! I switch off though. (Thanks again for the maternity clothes Leah!)

-Her feet found my ribs. It's not that bad except a couple of times she has caught me off guard and hit a ticklish spot and made me jump!
-I had my first baby shower! A lady in my ward wanted to do it before the holidays and it was way fun! Accumulating all of the baby stuff just makes it seem more real and makes me excited to be able to use it!

Observations I've made:
-I knew babies kicked every once in a while but I never realized that they are wiggling around all the time! It's the weirdest thing to have my belly moving around and I have no control over it.
-It's impossible to bend forward now. This makes everyday tasks quite awkward.
-Heartburn really hurts! Luckily tums are completely safe to take while pregnant. I just feel bad for the middle-aged men who live with it constantly.
-Basically, I'm just becoming more and more uncomfortable. It makes me feel bad for the baby though because she's squished in there between my hips and ribs with no room to move. Not to mention it's probably boring with nothing to look at or play with. No wonder some people are claustrophobic!

A lot of people have asked us about names so here's the deal. We're going to name all of our kids after places (mostly cities) so you're welcome to give suggestions if you think there is a cute girl name. We pretty much have the name picked out, I'm like 90% sure about it, but we're keeping it a surprise so you'll just have to wait and see!

Self Reliance

As the last of our pumpkins die, I thought I'd post about our first garden this summer. Zack was able to till up some land at the shop where he works. We planted pretty much everything possible and, quite frankly, bit off a little more than we could chew but it was a fun learning experience. We had way too much of a lot of things and ended up giving a lot away. We also realized there were things we didn't like and won't be planting again such as red-leaf lettuce. Here are a few pictures we have:

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep up with the weeds. Oh well.

It was really fun to grow our own food. I loved having salsa, salads, etc. and being able to say it was all from our garden!

We also learned a lot about canning. We canned peaches, pears, grape juice, tomatoes, and peppers. It's so cool now to use a can of tomatoes in a recipe and think, "I grew these last summer."



Hopefully we'll be able to do it again next year!

I love the mountains, I love the rolling hills...

Before the weather got too cold, we decided to explore the outdoors one last time. We borrowed a friend's 4-wheeler the last weekend in September for our date night and headed up the Willard Basin trail to Inspiration Point.

From there we hiked part of the trail to Ben Lomond Peak.



After our hike we just drove around on all the trails and it was so much fun! The air was crisp and the leaves were just changing colors. I really do love the mountains here!

Box Elder County Y'all

Late summer/early fall is a big time for Box Elder county. We were informed by the locals that the county fair is a "big to-do" around here and everybody goes. They even started school a week later than the surrounding counties just for the fair! Well, we didn't want to be nobodys so we went with our friends the Johnstons.
It was your average county fair. We browsed the art/photography entries, looked at the animals, walked through the booths, and had some italian ice.


We finished off the evening watching our friend Korry's dad play in a band while the old people and little kids danced the night away.
The second big deal around here is Peach Days, Zack's favorite time of year! Seriously, he could eat peaches all day every day and Brigham City grows some real good ones! We decided to have some family and friends over for the occasion. We went to the car show.
The volkswagen section was lacking to say the least, but Zack did like the mk1 rabbit.
After looking at the booths and eating our favorite deep-fried oreos, we had a delicious bbq. Zack made his famous smoked ribs with all the fixins and for dessert we had home-made peach cobbler (from scratch of course) and home-made peach ice cream with a little wii action. A good time was had by all!
