Mini Vacay

July 9-11th we took a little trip and stayed at my grandparents' condo at Bear Lake.  It was nice to just get away from all of our responsibilities and relax for a minute.  We brought Zack's family with us and just hung out.  The weekend consisted of:
-wiffle ball
-frisbee
-horse
-volleyball
-mini golf
-a little swimming
-a little beach wandering
-board games
-lots of eating
-hiking
-movie watching
I didn't get pictures of everything but here's what I do have:
For the third summer in a row, Zack and I made the trip to Bear Lake Pizza and attempted, with family, to eat the famous 28" old ephraim pizza.

We didn't finish it but it was delish and made for tasty left-overs too.

It doesn't matter if you finish it anyway because they no longer put your picture on the wall.  They said it's because polaroid won't give them the film for it anymore or something.  Lame. 

Later that day, Berkley went swimming for the first time.  Here she is lounging at the pool with dad.  She didn't like to wear her sunglasses but she loved to chew on them all day long.

She didn't even notice the pool.  All she cared about was chewing on her toy.  We tried to get her to splash but she didn't care about the water at all.  We didn't swim very long.

After Zack's family went home we decided to venture up to Bloomington, ID, just north of Bear Lake, and hike to Bloomington Lake.  It was gorgeous and Berkley loved hiking!  We came to this little lake first.

Then hiked a little more.

And here it is.  Bloomington Lake is glacier-fed and is so deep that nobody has found the bottom.  The cliffs at the edge of the lake were stunning and still had snow on them in July.  People were catching fish, jumping off the rope swing, and just enjoying a Sunday evening.

We just might have to go there again sometime.

5 Months

Berkley has been 5 months old for almost 2 weeks now. (whoops!)  Here is the monkey picture.

This month it was hard to get her to sit still.  She kept attacking the monkey.  I imagine it won't get any easier...

Not a whole lot has changed since four months but here are a few new milestones:
-She hardly ever poops out of her diaper anymore which is good news for me!  In fact, she doesn't poop as much in general.  TMI? Maybe.
-As you know we've been feeding her rice cereal.  She really likes it and she's been sleeping like a dream.  The first night we gave it to her she slept for 10 hours until I woke her up!

 -Since she eats rice cereal she figures she can eat or drink whatever she wants...

-She found her toes this month and is always grabbing them.  June 13th was the first day she got her foot in her mouth on her own.  (Zack wanted me to write that one down.  He was pretty excited.) I haven't been able to get a foot-eating picture yet though.

-She had her first sleepover. (Well 4 in a row actually!) While I went to girls camp she spent two nights with each grandma.  Yeah, it was pretty tough to leave my 4 1/2 month old, nursing baby for that long but we worked it out and the grandmas loved it.  

-It was also her first time going out of state.  On June 14th we went up to Idaho Falls for my Uncle Brady's funeral.  She did really well in the car and was quiet during the services.  

-She caught her first cold on June 11th.  Her dad gave it to her.  It stayed with her for quite a while but she was surprisingly happy for a sick baby! (Unless I was trying to suck her boogers out.  She is not a fan of that!)

-She still hasn't rolled over.  She has gotten way close but most of the time she just doesn't seem to want to.  It's fine with me though, I'll take an immobile baby for as long as possible!

-Even though she isn't rolling, she's getting close to sitting on her own.  She can sit really well in the boppy but she's still a little too unstable without it.  

 Don't mind the spit-up on her mouth...

-She likes loud noises and playing peek-a-boo.

-She loves this toy!  Grandma Leann found it at a garage sale. 

-She knows what her binky is and where it goes so she spends a lot of time trying to put it in herself.  She gets it right every once in a while.
